We are building a team for the anticipated Department of State Global Mission Operations Support (GMOS) effort supporting the Bureau of Diplomatic Technology, Enterprise Applications Directorate, Office of Consular Systems and Technology.

About the Role

Administer and maintain Windows and Linux server environments supporting globally distributed consular systems, applications, storage, virtualization, backup, and enterprise services. This position supports the Department of State Consular Affairs global information technology environment, which includes domestic and overseas facilities, on-premises infrastructure, cloud platforms, applications, databases, and enterprise support services. This is a contingent position based on contract award and final customer requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Install, configure, operate, monitor, patch, and maintain Windows and/or Linux servers in physical, virtual, on-premises, and cloud environments.

• Support VMware clusters, Active Directory, MECM, Red Hat Satellite, NetApp storage, tape libraries, backup, restore, and recovery operations.

• Perform system health checks, analyze CPU, memory, storage, I/O, and network utilization, and remediate performance or availability issues.

• Administer user accounts, privileges, authentication services, server security controls, and approved baseline configurations.

• Execute backups, restores, monthly data-integrity validations, upgrades, decommissioning, and hardware/software lifecycle activities.

• Log and manage incidents, problems, and changes in the ticketing system and maintain current topology diagrams, configurations, SOPs, and technical documentation.

• Coordinate with domestic and overseas stakeholders to resolve infrastructure issues and support continuity events, outages, and emergency requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• 3–5 years of systems administration experience in Windows and/or Linux environments.

• Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization, Active Directory, MECM, patch management, and enterprise server operations.

• Experience with backup/restore, storage platforms, system monitoring, vulnerability remediation, and configuration management.

• Knowledge of Federal or Department of State security configuration and documentation standards.

• Ability to support after-hours maintenance, shift coverage, or emergency response as required.

• Active Secret clearance; certain assignments may require Top Secret.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NetApp, tape libraries, Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, Puppet, AWS, Azure, or OCI.

• CompTIA Security+, Microsoft, Red Hat, VMware, or equivalent certification.

• Department of State or overseas-post support experience.
