Cloud Engineer

We are building a team for the anticipated Department of State Global Mission Operations Support (GMOS) effort supporting the Bureau of Diplomatic Technology, Enterprise Applications Directorate, Office of Consular Systems and Technology.

About the Role

Design, implement, secure, automate, and modernize cloud infrastructure within hybrid and multi-cloud environments supporting Department of State applications and services. This position supports the Department of State Consular Affairs global information technology environment, which includes domestic and overseas facilities, on-premises infrastructure, cloud platforms, applications, databases, and enterprise support services. This is a contingent position based on contract award and final customer requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement secure, scalable, resilient IaaS and PaaS solutions in AWS, Azure, OCI, or comparable cloud platforms.

• Support cloud migration planning, architecture decisions, workload transition, integration, testing, and operational readiness.

• Implement infrastructure as code, configuration automation, containerization, CI/CD integration, monitoring, backup, and disaster-recovery capabilities.

• Develop cloud architecture diagrams, security documentation, cost and performance analyses, supportability assessments, and migration plans.

• Ensure cloud solutions comply with FedRAMP, Department security policies, privacy requirements, and applicable governance processes.

• Coordinate with application, database, network, security, operations, and Government teams to transition cloud services into production support.

• Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend improvements that increase automation, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years of cloud infrastructure design and implementation experience.

• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, OCI, or another enterprise cloud platform.

• Experience with infrastructure as code, automation, containerization, monitoring, networking, identity, backup, and security.

• Knowledge of FedRAMP authorization and Federal cloud security requirements.

• Strong architecture, documentation, troubleshooting, and cross-team collaboration skills.

• Active Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS, Microsoft Azure, OCI, Kubernetes, or Terraform certification.

• Experience with Department of State Cloud Computing Governance Board processes.

• Experience modernizing legacy applications or infrastructure into hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, assigned work location, and final contract requirements. Blue Rose offers a competitive benefits package for eligible full-time employees. Specific compensation and benefit details will be provided during the recruiting process.
