About the Role

Blue Rose Consulting Group is seeking an Appian Security Developer to support the Department of State and the continued development of a custom Fleet Appian solution.

This full-time, remote position will focus on security-related Appian development and cybersecurity gap remediation to support the system’s Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements. The Appian Security Developer will design, develop, test, debug, and enhance application functionality while translating cybersecurity requirements and identified security gaps into effective technical solutions.

The role will also support the analysis of functional business applications and design specifications across areas such as finance, accounting, personnel, manpower, logistics, and contracts. The developer will work collaboratively with development, functional support, testing, and security teams to improve application functionality, security, and overall efficiency.

This position requires an active Secret security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance a custom Fleet Appian solution with a focus on improving system cybersecurity.
• Implement technical changes that support the system’s Authority to Operate requirements.
• Identify and remediate cybersecurity gaps within the Appian application.
• Translate cybersecurity requirements and remediation needs into Appian development solutions.
• Analyze functional business applications and design specifications.
• Translate detailed designs and technical requirements into software solutions.
• Design, code, test, debug, and refine application functionality.
• Develop block diagrams and logic flowcharts as needed to support application development.
• Collaborate with other developers to complete and improve the custom Appian solution.
• Work with functional support personnel to review user stories and support application testing.
• Coordinate with security teams to incorporate cybersecurity best practices and lessons learned from previous security efforts.
• Troubleshoot and resolve security-related issues affecting the application.
• Support validation of completed security remediation work.
• Prepare required program-level and user-level documentation.
• Enhance software to improve efficiency and reduce operating time.
• Provide technical direction to programmers, as required, to support program deadlines.
• Develop or modify procedures to address complex technical challenges while considering system capacity, limitations, operating time, and required results.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance.
• 1–5 years of experience implementing medium-to-complex applications on the Appian platform.
• Advanced proficiency in software development.
• Advanced proficiency in cybersecurity.
• Advanced proficiency in Appian Process Automation.
• Knowledge of Appian application development.
• Ability to understand cybersecurity terminology, requirements, and identified security gaps.
• Experience developing technical solutions that address cybersecurity remediation needs.
• Experience with Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) supporting Low-Code/No-Code Development Platform models.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL, stored procedures, and query/view optimization.
• 1–3 years of experience developing on RDBMS platforms, including Oracle, SQL, MySQL, and/or MariaDB.
• 1+ years of experience using low-code/no-code Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) tools.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with development, functional support, testing, and security teams.
• Appian Certified Associate Developer or Senior Developer certification.
